Navarre
Krewe of Jesters Press Release
9/27/2007
Local Community Group pioneers County’s
new “Adopt-A-Spot” program.
The Navarre Krewe of
Jesters, a well known local community group
responsible for organizing and putting on
the annual Mardi Gras parade on Navarre
Beach, is the first organization in the
south-end of the county to sign up for Santa
Rosa County’s “Adopt-A-Spot” program.
Similar to the State’s “Adopt-A-Highway”
program, the local version provides for
clean up on county roads, parks and other
county owned areas in need of litter
control. The Jesters have been actively
participating in the State program for over
2 years and took on the County program when
SR399 (Gulf Blvd.) was transferred to the
County. The Krewe of Jesters keeps a 2-mile
stretch of Gulf Blvd. free of litter and
participates in Earth Day and International
Clean Shores projects.
The Jesters, active in
our area since 1986, are always eager to
find new ways to help our community. They
provide a scholarship for a graduating
Navarre High student, bring Christmas cheer
to the residents of Bay Breeze Assisted
Living Center, and support several American
Cancer Society programs. The Jesters are
working hard to make Navarre and the
surrounding communities a nice and fun place
to call home.
The Jesters are always
looking for new members who are interested
in helping them continue this tradition of
community service and spirit. If you are at
least 21 years of age and interested in
making Navarre the best place to live and
have loads of fun doing it, visit their
website at
www.navarrekreweofjesters.com for a
membership application. Also available on
the website is the parade application for
the 2008 Mardi Gras Parade to be held on
Navarre Beach on February 2nd,
2008.
If you don’t think you
want to join full time you might ask one of
the members for a chance to be a “Jester for
a Day” during the 2008 Mardi gras parade.
The Krewe is selling chances for $5 Single,
and $10 Double for the opportunity to ride
on one of the floats during the parade.
They will provide throw beads for the
winners and several other commemorative
items for the winner/s.
The “Krewe” will hold
it’s annual 12th Night
celebration on January 5, 2008 at the Elks
Lodge, tickets will be available soon. They
also will have the Annual “Masked Ball” on
January 26, 2008 at the Comfort Inn
Conference Center. This will feature live
music, a silent auction and Cajun food. If
you are interested contact a “Krewe” member
for more information.
