American Cancer
Society
Relay for Life
The Navarre
Krewe of Jesters participated again in the American
Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life.” The “Krewe
started making plans and getting confirmation of
contributions shortly after the Mardi Gras Parade.
Over 40 “Krewe” members made an appearance at the
Navarre High School track for the 18-hour event
starting on April 7, 2006, 6 P.M. and ending at Noon
on April 8, 2006.
The “Krewe’”
campsite was voted as best site at the Relay as
chosen by Cancer survivors, this is the third
consecutive year that the “Krewe” has won this
prestigious award. The “Krewe” team also amassed
over 750 total laps walked, with one of the members
Wally Lord receiving the medal for most laps walked
by a male, 170, and Joanne Loftin was runner-up for
females with 61 laps.
Total
contributions for the “Krewe” was over $3,000.00,
this amount was raised by donations, Track Markers,
Luminaries, yard sales, selling hand made jewelry
and several games of chance with gift baskets as the
reward for the winners. Glenda Gardner of Cutter’s
Hair Salon donated all proceeds from haircuts on
March 20th, helping emensly with overall
contributions. Two of the Navarre Krewe of Jesters
also walked in the “Survivor” lap of the “Relay for
Life.”
This “Relay
for Life” event has set a lofty goal for the “Krewe”
for next years participation.
If you are
interested in making a contribution, donation, or
help with the “Krewe” efforts please feel free to
